Carrie - ThinkSync
My story came from listening to one of the songs on the website and it made me think of a beach and waves and a man walking along the beach. I thought about filming this man, smoking a cigarette perhaps, looking out onto the horizon while he's walking along this beach. He looks very deep in thought. I wanted text to come up in parts to show his thoughts such as "Why am I here?" and "How did I get here?" This would continue until he eventually stopped and turned towards the horizon, which the camera would then turn to and we would see he had been looking at the Earth in the sky. My main problem with this idea is if I were to film it, how I would get the image of the earth into the final scene without it looking like it had just been plonked down. Would I be able to achieve this in after effects? Or does anyone have any other suggestions of how I could do this?

Hiya i like your idea and ive heard the sound your using so think it suits well! I think you should travel to new brighton for the beach, i can tell you how to get there and its probably the nicest beach close to Liverpool!
Am not sure about how you would put the earth on and i really like that idea so i hope you pull it off! Am also thinking after effects but i havent used it much so am not sure!
Good Luck!
Maybe you could have audio bits of the man's thoughts rather than text. Might help create an atmosphere and also gives you an excuse to use some close ups on his head.
As for the final shot, maybe you could do a bit of photomontaging. A static shot of the earth done in Photoshop that could have a few moving cloud applied to it in After Effects. Dunno if this is possible in After Effects - I'm sure it is. Ask Alex - he seems to be the resident AE whizz :)
I envision this to be a dramatic ending with some tense drums or some deep trumpets/trombones or whatever they're called.
You got a title yet?
i like the ideo. nice and contemplative with a good twist. its reminds me of a science fiction story:
Poeple hav been living on this planet in an unsustainable way. The planet is a mess and dying. The governments decide to send a chosen few to another planet in a spaceship. Mankinds last hope, a new beginning.
The ships leaves, travels for 30 years, and they finally get to the next nearest planet with a similar atmosphere.
They get there and all they find are the remnants of a human civilisation that trashed the planet and left 1000s of years before.
anyway - your question about putting the earth in the sky. Sometimes when i think that something wont look realistic, i push it all the other way. In this case you could do an animation. or a rotoscope animation - a mixed media. Then the audience wont judge the 'realsim' of the effects, but the mood of them
pardon my ramble...
I agree with Sam on this one it is better to play on the fact that it will be lo-fi and unrealistic just look at Michel Gondry's work, it would be ace if you made your own planet earth and did a stop motion of it spinning or rotoscope of it etc.
Anyway good luck with the filming new brighton beach is a great place to film. Have you got the man to be in it yet?
